The US Open Tennis Tournament starts in Queens today. Over the next two weeks, I will watch a ridiculous amount of tennis and love every minute of it. I usually root for the underdog, but a few years ago I joined the ranks of Roger Federer fans. Roger is defending his title in New York, and he is having a “slow” 2008 with two losses in Grand Slam finals (Wimbledon and the French Open). Rafael Nadal won both of them, as well as the gold medal in Beijing. Roger and Stan-the-Man Wawrinka won the doubles gold medal. So I’ll be rooting for both Federer and Nadal to get to the final. If that match happens and it’s even half as good as the Wimbledon final, we are all in for a treat.

Never did take to tennis. Just to many childhood memories of matrons in white tennis skirts bopping about town.
